Group Tour to the Atlantic Pearl – Madeira Island

Welcome to Madeira! Upon arrival at Funchal Airport, a private transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel, where you will stay for 3 nights.

Enjoy a tour of Funchal’s old town, including the Cathedral, historic district, and the Mercado dos Lavradores, followed by free time for lunch. Then, take a cable car ride up to the parish of Monte to visit the Church of Our Lady of Monte, home to the tomb of the last Emperor of Austria, Charles I, as well as its beautiful public gardens.

Return to Funchal aboard the famous toboggan baskets.

End the day with a traditional Madeiran dinner accompanied by live folk music and dance performances.

The first stop will be at Terreiro da Luta. The journey continues towards Pico do Areeiro mountain, which, at 1,818 meters, is the island’s third highest peak and offers breathtaking views.

Next, you’ll descend through the forest towards the coast to visit the last of Madeira’s iconic thatched houses. Passing through picturesque villages and stunning coastal landscapes, you will reach the easternmost point of the island, where you can enjoy spectacular views of both the north and sunny south coasts in a single panorama.

On the island’s northern slope, the tour arrives at Ribeiro Frio, a popular starting point for levada walks. Known for its interesting trout ponds, this area still preserves much of its original vegetation. Madeira was once completely covered by Laurissilva forest, a relic from prehistoric times.

Lunch will be in Santana, famous for its small triangular thatched houses, where a meal with drinks included will be served at a local restaurant.

After lunch, the journey continues to Ponta de São Lourenço, located on the island’s eastern tip, where a fantastic blend of rocks, sea, and nature awaits.

The day begins right after breakfast with a visit to Câmara de Lobos, the island’s first traditional fishing village. From there, the journey continues to Cabo Girão, the second highest cliff in the world and the tallest in Europe.

Next, you’ll arrive at Ribeira Brava and head north, ascending through the deep, narrow valleys of Serra D'Água. Here you’ll reach Encumeada, a special spot atop the valley with breathtaking views of both the island’s south and north coasts.

Then it’s on to São Vicente, one of the largest villages on Madeira’s north coast. Afterward, you’ll visit the charming village of Porto Moniz, where you’ll have about an hour to enjoy lunch and admire the stunning volcanic natural pools.

On the return trip, you’ll cross Paul da Serra, Madeira’s highest plateau, taking in spectacular panoramic views of the island.

Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel before check-out. Don’t worry about your luggage — it will be safely stored at the hotel reception.

At 9:00 AM, you’ll be transferred to Funchal marina to embark on a relaxing 3-hour catamaran cruise for whale and dolphin watching. Weather permitting, there’ll be a quick stop near Cabo Girão for a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters.

After returning to the marina, the rest of your day is yours to explore or unwind as you please.

Later, at 4:00 PM, a transfer will take you back to the airport, wrapping up your memorable Madeira adventure.
