Leaving Funchal, we will head towards Câmara de Lobos, the best known fishing village in Madeira, for its paintings by Winston Churchill and its breathtaking views, where we will stop for about 20 minutes. Our safari continues to Ponta do Sol and continues to Canhas, along agricultural paths, where you can admire banana plantations, sugar cane and most of the vegetables that you will find for sale in the local markets. We will visit another village called Canhas, where we will take you to a rare all-terrain scenario along original trails to the next village called Calheta, where another stop will follow.
Leaving Calheta behind, we will start to climb to the only plateau on the island at 1400m above sea level known as Paul da Serra. With several stops on the way to enjoy the stunning views of Fanal within the Natural Park, the village of Ribeira da Janela and the fabulous valleys and mountains nearby. We will descend from Paul da Serra to Porto Moniz, within the Laurissilva Natural Park, a UNESCO world heritage site, and we will admire the endemic forest along the off-road path.
Taking advantage of the agricultural paths again, we will arrive at the viewpoint of the small village of Santa, called Miradouro do Redondo, where you will enjoy the view over Porto Moniz, well known for its natural lava pools, where we will stop for lunch (optional) and you the fantastic pleasure of swimming (optional). Starting our return to Funchal, our next stop will be in Seixal, where the natural landscape will change again. Due to its location, you will be able to admire surprising and contrasting views of mountains and oceans at the same time. The latter will feature a picturesque dark sand beach and once again fabulous lava pools alongside.
