Although we spend most of the day in the Furnas area, in the well-known Furnas lagoon, there will still be time to discover other points of tourist interest on this day tour.
After picking up in the center of Ponta Delgada, our first stop will be on the south coast of the island, more precisely in the former capital of Sao Miguel, Vila Franca do Campo. Here you can see the Ilheu de Vila Franca with its crater inside and learn more about the history and culture of the island. As soon as we arrive at Lagoa das Furnas, we will have the opportunity to observe the 'fumarolas', a famous volcanic phenomenon in this part of the island. There will also be space to observe the technique of the famous "Cozido das Furnas", the gastronomic specialty of the island of Sao Miguel.
Then, we will visit the Terra Nostra natural park with the possibility of experiencing a bath in its thermal waters and we will still have time to enjoy lunch. Still in the center of Vila das Furnas, there is still a visit to the boilers and 'fumarolas', as well as the different water sources. There will also be a stop at the Pico de Ferro viewpoint, from where it is possible to enjoy the view over Lagoa das Furnas and the village to which it belongs.
On our way back to Ponta Delgada, we will also stop in Ribeira Grande to visit the famous Gorreana tea plantation and its respective factory, where it will be possible to taste black or green tea. Then we'll go to the Miradouro de Santa Iria, where the unobstructed views over the north of the island are a must stop for all those who visit São Miguel.
